Beware of mobile phone snatchers

One of my colleagues informed me that his daughter, an A/L student, has come to the British Council library to renew her books. On her way out from the library she had come along Alfred House Road.

She had been answering a call on the way and someone has grabbed the phone from her hand and had run away. Women and girls in particular, need to be careful when using mobile phones on the road.

One way rule at Independence Square

I am glad that the road alongside Independence Square has a new one way rule which helps to develop a steady flow of traffic. Now, one does not have to get stuck because of the Sports Clubs near Maitland Crescent and the prestigious convent nearby.

It is good that a bus stand is on Duplication Road away from Clifford Avenue thereby making that avenue available for the traffic flow.

However, the Colombo Traffic Police need to be vigilant in the manner motorists overtake vehicles at high speed.
