US copper thieves steal sword at Lincoln tomb

Thieves have snatched a copper sword from the burial site of president Abraham Lincoln, one of the most revered leaders in US history, local media reported. The roughly three-foot (90-centimeter) sword was brandished by the statue of a Civil War artillery officer at the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site, located in Springfield, Illinois.

New Zealand PM calls in police over media tactics

“I will not not tolerate ‘News of the World’ tactics”:

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key called in police Monday after a newspaper revealed one of its journalists recorded a private conversation he had with a candidate in this month’s election. Key said he would not tolerate “News of the World tactics” from media on the campaign trail and had made a complaint to police about the conduct of a freelance video journalist who was working for the Herald on Sunday newspaper.

Iran, Iraq set to expand military ties

Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Joint Forces General Babaker Zebari has called for the expansion of military cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad. Zebari made the remarks during a meeting with the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, in Tehran on Sunday, IRNA reported.
