Super luxury bus service for Southern Expressway

The government will deploy two super luxury Sri Lanka Transport Board
(SLTB) buses to transport passengers on the Southern Expressway, which
will be opened on November 27.
The super luxury bus service will be inaugurated from Galle on
November 27.
Super luxury bus services will be operated between Kottawa and Galle,
SLTB chairman M D Bandusena said.
He said two super luxury buses will operate initially on the
expressway.
The number of buses will be increased according to the needs.
Bandusena added that high standard buses were purchased by the SLTB with
a concern for passenger safety.
"Well experienced drivers and luxury coaches are a must to operate
transport services on the expressway and we have trained drivers in this
regard," he said.
The SLTB has bought buses from the Lanka Ashok Leyland Company. The
value of a 41-seat super luxury bus is Rs 10 million.
Interchanges in major destinations are Makumbura to Kotte and
Dehiwela, Kahatuduwa to Moratuwa, Gelanigama to Panadura and Wadduwa,
Dodangoda to Kalutara and Matugama, Lewwanduwa to Beruwala and Bentota,
Kurundugahahetekma to Balapitiya and Ambalangoda, Nayapamula to
Hikkaduwa, Pinnaduwa to Galle, Deegoda to Weligama, Kokmaduwa to
Weligama and Godagama to Matara.
All these access points would have toll collecting centres.
He said SLTB has given the route allocation of 40 percent while
private buses were granted the balance 60 percent of route allocations
by the NTC.
