Brokers to grant margins

SEC to take decision soon:

The Securities and Exchange Commission Sri Lanka (SEC) will consider permitting stock brokers to grant margins for small retail investors. The stock brokers have made a proposal to the SEC to grant margins for retail investors and SEC will take a decision shortly, SEC Director-General Malik Cader told Daily News Business.

Pan Asia posts Rs 406 m profit in 1H

Pan Asia Bank has made a remarkable growth during the first half of 2011. It has recorded a net profit of Rs 406 million for this period. Pan Asia Bank Chairman AG Weerasinghe told Daily News Business that the bank has shown a growth in all sectors increasing the balance sheet value upto Rs 40 billion which is a 70 percent growth.
