A batch of 282 former LTTE cadres undergoing rehabilitation are sitting the GCE Advanced Level Examination which began yesterday. Here, they are seen at the Vavuniya Tamil Madya Maha Vidyalaya Primary Section examination centre. Eleven of them are offering science subjects, 53 commerce subjects, four mathematics subjects and the balance 214 arts subjects.

STF to come down hard on underworld activities

The Police Special Task Force continues to take stern action against underworld activities. Police Special Task Force Commodant Deputy Inspector General RWMC Ranawana yesterday told the media at the STF headquarters that the STF has been assigned with many responsibilities in the aftermath of the elimination of terrorism, one of the main tasks being combat underworld activities.

STF camps in every district to combat vice

Police Special Task Force camps which were confined to the Northern and Eastern Provinces during LTTE terrorism, are to be established in each administrative district under the direction of the Defence Ministry to eliminate all anti-social activities that have posed a threat to the public.
