Police probe teen's death

Ududumbara Police are probing the death of a 16-year-old girl caused by self-immolation at her home in Ududumbara on Monday.

The victim was identified as Ruwanthi Kaushalya Dissanayake. Meanwhile, a manager of a private firm in Polonnaruwa committed suicide by hanging from the rafter of a house where he was staying. The deceased was identified as E N Senaratne, 28, of Polonnaruwa.

Suspect nabbed with hooch

Kuliyapitiya Police arrested a suspect with five barrels and 50 bottles of illicit liquor at Yakwila in Kuliyapitiya. The suspect is to be produced in court on May 3.

One dead, two injured in motorcycle accident

A motorcyclist died and two others were seriously injured, when the motorcycle they were travelling, skidded off the road and crashed into a tree at Periya Porathiw in Kalawanchikudi on Monday night.

S Anushkanthan,22, died in the incident.

The other two were transferred to Batticaloa Hospital from Kalawanchikudi Hospital.
