Woman remanded for swindling money
A woman who swindled Rs 110,000 from a man
promising employment in the government sector was sentenced to a
10-year suspended imprisonment by the Balapitiya magistrate. The
Police reported the woman obtained the money from the man, a
resident of Ambalangoda promising him a job at the Port Authority.

VAT scam: Colombo HC judge orders sealing of two buildings
Colombo High Court Judge Kumuduni Wickramasingha
yesterday ordered the sealing of two buildings situated at Second
Cross Street, Pettah which belong to the 10th suspect, a businessman
in custody, in connection with the Rs.4 billion VAT scam.
