Gale destroys 15 houses

A gale that swept across Agunakolapelessa along with thunder showers on Sunday evening caused extensive damage to 15 houses.

Several houses in Yakagala, Helekadaalutwewa and Kalawelwala Grama Niladhari divisions were damaged.

Agunakolapelessa Divisional Secretary Kumudu C Lokuhewgama said compensation will be provided to owners of damaged houses.

The displaced were provided dry rations, she said.

She said Rs 100,000 will be given to those whose houses were completely damaged.
