Power for more Kalawana families

Several new power projects to provide electricity to the public who
never had access to electricity in Kalawana electorate will be launched
under the Vidulamu Lanka electricity project with the aim of providing
electricity for all by 2014, Power and Energy Minister Pavithra
Wanniarachchi said.

The minister who visited the Kalawana electorate on Saturday,
requested Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) officials to allocate funds to
establish new electricity projects in the Kalawana electorate.
Wanniarachchi also met villagers and promised to take immediate
measures to solve their problems.
Around 1,000 households not having electricity, will become
beneficiaries of these projects, she said.
The minister said measures are in place to establish 21 electricity
projects and 150 electricity transaction lines under the Vidulamu Lanka
electricity project. The projects are to be completed within the next
two months, she said.
Wanniarachchi said she instructed the authorities to complete these
electricity projects on time.
Ratnapura District MP Janaka Wakkumbura, Sabaragamuwa Provincial
Council Chairman Kanchana Jayaratne, Kalawana Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman
Vijitha Karunaratne and CEB officials were also present.
