The colonial British owned Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya won the historical flower show organised by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council for the 37th consecutive year. First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa was the chief guest. Over 500 households and commercial establishments participated in the competition.

The two day show was opened by Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa while the second day was opened by the First Lady. Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and a large crowd of holiday makers including tourists came to Victoria Park to view the competition.
