IMF projects growth of over 6 p.c for Lanka
The International Monetary Fund projects Sri Lankan economy to grow
by 6.3 percent in 2013 and 6.7 percent in 2014. This prognosis is made
in IMF’s ‘Asia Pacific Region Economic Outlook 2013.’ The growth
forecast for this year is 0.5 percent lower than that was predicted in
IMF’s October 2012 World Economic Outlook.
For 2014, it is 0.3 percent higher than the October 2012 assessment.
In Sri Lanka, growth is expected to remain broadly stable, as
continued macro economic stabilization should restrain domestic demand,
while export growth is projected to remain tepid.
