Naveed, Jayalath excel at Mahaweli Reach junior tennis

Mohomed Naveed and Uvin Jayalath excelled at the second annual Mahaweli Reach Junior Tennis Championship 2013 organized by Mahaweli Reach Hotel and worked of at the hotel tennis courts in Katugastota yesterday. The matches will be continued today at 10 a.m and the awards ceremony will take place in the Afternoon with the Managing Director of the hotel Jayantha Panabokke as the chief guest.

Both Uvin Jayalath and Mohamed Naveed have already won events and they will meet in the crucial under 17 singles finals which decide who is the champion among the boys. Over 105 entries have been received from boys and girl under the age of 19 from schools in Kandy and Matale and today will be the fourth and final day.

Under 11 singles boys finals - M.A.M. Sham beat Mipuna Nuwan 7/3.

Under 13 boys singles finals - Banura Pahas Jayawardena beat M.A.M. Sham 7/5.

Under 15 boys finals - Uvin Jayalath beat M.R. Ashan 9/2.

Under 11 girls singles finals - Oshini Herath beat Tiara Beneragana 7/2.

Under 15 girls singles finals - Ayomi Perera beat Kaveesha Supunsara 7/2.

Under 17 girls single finals - Hiruni Weerasekera beat Nimaya Ganhewa.

Boys under 13 doubles - Mihin Jaylath and Banura Pahan beat M.A.M. Shan and A.M.I. Hassaiss 7/3.
