Bills passed with amendments
Parliament yesterday passed four Bills with amendments. The Inland
Revenue (Amendment) Bill, the Notaries (Amendment) Bill, The
Registration of Documents (Amendment) Bill and the Powers of Attorney
(Amendment) Bill were passed with amendments.
Divisions were asked for the Notaries (Amendment) Bill, Registration
of Documents (Amendment) Bill and Powers of Attorney (Amendment) Bill by
the Opposition.
The Notaries (Amendment) Bill was passed with a majority of 61 votes.
Seventy members voted in favour of the Bill, while nine members voted
against.
UNP, DNA and TNA voted against. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa announced
that the votes of the members who came late for the vote were not
counted.
The Registration of Documents (Amendment) Bill was passed with a
majority of 65 votes. Seventy four members voted in favour of the Bill
while nine members voted against. UNP, DNA and TNA voted against.
Powers of Attorney (Amendment) Bill was passed with a majority of 65
votes.
Seventy four members voted in favour, while nine voted against. UNP,
DNA and TNA voted against.
