Railways Dept earns over Rs two million as fines

The Railways Department collected over Rs 2,050,110 by way of fines in raids conducted in January and February.

Railways Department Commercial Superintendent G.W.S.Sisira Kumara said 2,888 fraudulent commuters were fined in raids in Colombo, Nawalapitiya and Anuradhapura. Ticketless travel and travelling in class one or two with class three tickets were the offences by commuters.
