Herbal medicine research centre coming up soon

A herbal medicine research centre will be set up soon for herbal
medicinal products development by a Japanese investor with the
assistance of Tokyo Agriculture University, Japan, Investment Promotion
Minister Laksman Yapa Abeywardena said.
The project is jointly collaborated by the Ayurveda Research Centre
and the Ayurveda Medical college under the coordination of the
Investment Promotion Ministry.
The proposed herbal medicine research centre will be established at
Wennappuwa.
A leading cosmetic and herbal production company, Albion, is the main
partner of the project.
The minister said this is a significant achievement in the sphere of
herbal medicine and natural cosmetic sector of the country.
Sri Lanka is enriched with a vast verities of herbs used for herbal
medicinal products, he said.
“After establishing such a research and product development centre,
the country can add value to local row materials”, Abeywardena said.
President and Chief Executive officer of Albion Shoichi Kobayashi
said Albion understands the importance of maintaining premium grade of
products.
