Bus operators strongly advised to charge approved rates only

National Transport Commission said buses deployed in the New Year transport services will not be allowed to over charge from the passengers than the specified rates.

This decision was taken at the meeting held at the NTC recently with the participation of provincial transport authorities, police traffic officers and representative of bus operators’ unions.

According to the discussions, New Year special transport services are carried out throughout the day from April 8 to April 16. The services commence from the Bastion Mawatha main bus stand.

Besides, luxury, semi luxury and normal bus services are carried out to main destinations including Kandy, Badulla, Matara, Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, Ampara, Kataragama etc. For easy identification every bus has been issued a special sticker, which signifies the approval for New Year passenger transportation.

The bus operators have been strongly advised to charge only the approved bus fares.
