The Sinhala and Hindu New Year Trade Fair jointly organized by the
Economic Development Ministry’s Divi Neguma programme and the Sri Lanka
Samurdhi Authority, opened at Seelamunai, Batticaloa on April 9.
Batticaloa Government Agent P. S. M. Charles was the chief guest who
opened the trade fair.
The function was presided over by Manmunai North Divisional Secretary
S. Giritharan.
He said this is a convenient event for those celebrating new year as
the people get a good opportunity to buy products while small scale
entrepreneurs in the district are able to market their products.
He said each divisional secretariatdivision in the Batticaloa
District will conduct a trade fair of this nature marking the festive
season from April 9 to 13.
Batticaloa District Planning Director R. Neduncheliyan, officials of
the Economic Development Ministry and Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority
officials participated.
