The Sri Lankan artistes will hold an Adhishtana Puja today at 4.00 pm
at the Independence Square in response to the protests carried out by
the actors and actresses in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing the media yesterday at a press conference organized by the
National Organization of Sri Lankan Artistes at Sausiripaya, veteran
artiste and a parliamentarian Malini Fonseka said they request from all
actors and actresses who protested against Sri Lanka to visit Sri Lanka
and witness the real situation in the country.
“After conducting the Adhishtana Puja we will hand over a special
massage to the Indian High Commission and has also taken measures to
publish newspaper advertisements on this in popular newspapers in
India,” she said.
Veteran artiste Ravindra Randeniya said several groups tried to
create a bad picture about Sri Lanka. After experiencing 30 year cruel
war the country is now on a fast development track.
Only after three years of ending the war Sri Lanka has achieved great
success in a number of aspects. People who cannot digest this try to
create problems in Sri Lanka.
“We request all actors and actresses in Tamil Nadu and all other
international groups making baseless allegations against Sri Lanka to
visit Lanka and experience the peaceful situation in the country,” he
said.
National Organization of Sri Lankan Artistes invited all artistes,
sportsmen and women and intellectuals to participate in the Adhistana
Puja devoid of party, racial and religious differences. They are also
requested to be attired in white.
Parliamentarians Geetha Kumarasinghe and Upeksha Swarnamali and film
and tele drama directors and artistes participated in the briefing.
