Japanese plan to invest in Lankan Ayurveda, beauty culture sector

Japanese investors are keen on investing in Sri Lankan Ayurveda and
beauty culture sectors, ALBION Cosmetics Company Ltd. Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer Shoichi Kobayashi said.Kobayashi is among a Japanese
delegation in Sri Lanka looking into investment opportunities. The
delegation comprises Tokyo Agriculture University lecturer Prof.
Watanade Toshihiro and several personnel attached to the Japanese
Ayurveda, agriculture and beauty culture sectors.
The delegation was in Sri Lanka as a result of discussions between
President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Japanese MP Arai Hiroyuki during the
President’s recent visit to Japan. “Japanese investors are ready to
assist Sri Lankans to invest in Japan by introducing them to new
methodologies and technical know-how. We are planning to setup a new
research institute to conduct Ayurveda and beauty cultural experiments,”
Kobayashi said.
“We hope to develop Ayurveda and beauty cultural sectors and export
Sri Lankan products to other countries in the future,” he said. Sri
Lanka Consul General in Japan Sunil M. Gamage and several Japanese and
Sri Lankan investors were also also present.
