Poaching Indian fishermen arrested
The Navy arrested a group of Indian fishermen
engaged in illegal fishing activities in Sri Lankan territorial
waters on Saturday. The Navy took into custody their fishing
trawlers. Twenty six Indian fishermen in five fishing trawlers were
illegally fishing in the Northern seas off Sri Lanka and were
spotted by Naval troops attached to the Northern Naval Command.

Raids on Matara eateries during festive season
The Matara Municipal Council will launch a
special programme in the area under its jurisdiction to safeguard
the public from health risks due to partaking of unhygienic food
during the festive season. Health authorities attached to the
Municipal Health Department, Matara said sudden raids on hotels and
eateries will cover the entire Matara Municipal area during the
festive season.
