Woman in job racket remanded

The Panadura Police Special Crime and Fraud Bureau arrested a woman
who allegedly was involved in a massive fraud of six million rupees
promising employment to youth in Japan.
The suspect of Raddoluwa, Seeduwa was produced before the Panadura
Chief Magistrate R.S.A. Dissanayake who ordered her to be remanded. OIC
Fraud Bureau of the Panadura Police told court that the suspect together
with another named Saman had engaged in luring people for employment in
Japan. Police investigations revealed that 64 youth had paid money to
the woman. They had been taken to Thailand and abandoned there.
The Thailand Police had arrested the youth who had been without visas
and kept them in a detention camp for three months. Some of them were
deported to Sri Lanka. They had subsequently complained about the job
racket to the Sri Lanka Police.
Panadura Police SCIB received complaints against the woman who
surrendered to the Police through a lawyer. She was taken into custody
and produced before court by police with a 'B' report.
