Rehabilitation of electrical system

The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to rehabilitate the electrical system of the University of Peradeniya at a cost of Rs. 56.4 million, to commence the project in 2013 and complete same within two years, was approved by the Cabinet.

Amendments to the Institute of Fundamental Studies of Sri Lanka

The proposal made by Technology, Research and Atomic Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft necessary legislation to introduce amendments relating to the constitution of the Board of Governors of the Institute, was approved by the Cabinet.

Promotion of soya bean cultivation

At present the annual import of soya products in the form of soya punnac, soya oil, soya flour is around 175,000 tons which require foreign exchange in a sum of Rs. 14,000 million. It has been found that soya can be cultivated in Anuradhapura, Moneragala, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Hambantota, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts as a short-term crop. The proposal made by Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to enhance the soya bean cultivation has been approved by the Cabinet. Under this soya bean seeds will be provided at a concessionary price for cultivation to small scale farmers.

Tesla MRI scanners for Anuradhapura General Hospital

The proposal made by Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena for the purchase of an MRI scanner for the Anuradhapura General Hospital and to award the contract, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.

Sewerage Infrastructure for Kataragama

The proposed project is designed to provide pipe-borne sewer facilities for pilgrims rests, hotels, offices etc. around the city limits. The proposal made by Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to award the contract as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.

Four storied Para Clinical Building Construction

The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to construct four storied building, to commence the construction work with Rs. 200 million already provided and to complete the work with funds to be provided under the Medium Term Budgetary Framework – 2014, was approved by the Cabinet.

Regulations of the export of ornamental fish, aquatic plants

The joint proposal made by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Rajitha Senaratne, Botanical Gardens and Public Recreations Minister Jayarathna Herath, Wildlife Resources Conservation Minister Gamini Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft regulations to allow the artificial breeding and propagation and export of endemic ornamental fish and aquatic plants by the authorized parties, was approved by the Cabinet.

Five storied building complex construction

The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to construct the five storied building complex for the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya building and to commence construction work with funds provided for 2013 and complete the work within two years, was approved by the Cabinet.

Building complex

The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to construct the Statistics and Computer Sciences of the Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya building and to commence construction work with funds provided for 2013 and complete the work within eighteen months, was approved by the Cabinet.

Building for the Information and Communication Technology Centre, University of Kelaniya

The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to construct the building and to commence construction work with funds provided for 2013 and complete the work within two (02) years, was approved by the Cabinet.

Construction of the balance work of three storied Chemical and Processing Engineering Building – Stage II for the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya.

The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to construct the building and to commence construction work with funds provided for 2013 and complete the work within one year, was approved by the Cabinet.

Expansion of canteen and students facilities

The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to construct the four storied building for the expansion of canteen and students facilities for the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo and to commence construction work with funds provided for 2013 and complete the work with funds to be provided under the Medium Term Budgetary Framework 2014-2016, was approved by the Cabinet.
