Completion of LLRC recommendations in one and a half years

The implementation of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) recommendations would be completed within another year and half, Petroleum Industries Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said.

Addressing the Cabinet press briefing at the Information Department yesterday, the minister said Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga formulated a time frame for the implementation of the recommendations of the LLRC.

He said some of these recommendations, such as resettlement activities, have been completed.

The minister said each and every recommendation in the LLRC has been included in the time frame. He said 22 ministries and institutions directly involved in the process of implementing the LLRC recommendations have formulated action plans to meet the stipulated deadline.

The minister said the Cabinet observed satisfactory progress has been made in the implementation of LLRC recommendations on the basis of a presentation made to the Cabinet of Ministers by the Secretary to the President.

Government Information Department Director General Prof Ariyaratne Athugala was also present.
