No divisions based on religion or language

The government will not allow any divisions based on religion or language differences SLFP Secretary General and Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday.

He made this observation at a special press conference of Sri Lanka Freedom Party at the Mahaweli Centre auditorium on Sri Lanka Freedom Party's membership promotion Programme - the Rata Nagana Nil Rella. He said so in response to a question raised by a journalist.

He also said that the people of this country have painful memories of a three decade dark era and the government acts in a deliberate manner to cause any suspicions in any community. He added that there were various incidents in the past but the government had no involvement in any of these.

SLFP Treasure Minister Dullas Alahapperuma was also present.
