Cadet platoons in N-E schools
Terrorism which prevailed in the country was the
main barrier in extending the National Cadet Corps (NCC) network to
the Northern and Eastern Provinces. Terrorism has been wiped out and
the opportunity has now emerged to establish cadet platoons in
schools in the two provinces, NCC Director Major General Gamini
Jayasundara said.

STF seizes venison
The Special Task Force (STF) seized a stock of
venison and remains of a stag and a deer at two separate locations
on Saturday and Sunday. The STF also arrested two persons who kept
the venison and parts of the stag in their possession. They also
seized a motorcycle used to transport the venison.

The accused in the delft Navy Camp attack has
been acquitted by Jaffna High Court Judge J. Visvanathan.
Selvaratnam Sasiharan (29) was charged under Prevention of Terrorism
