Zahira Mini Rugby Carnival kicks off

Zahira Old Boys Rugby Association (ZOBRA) will organize Zahira Mini
Rugby Carnival 2012 which will kick off tomorrow. In celebration of 120
years of college excellence, Zahira Old Boys Rugby Association take
great honor in organizing this gala event for the first time.
This is an interschool rugby tournament with twelve under-12 teams
participating this year.

Zahira College is a one of the pioneer rugby playing schools in the
island.
Zahira Old Boys Rugby Association (ZOBRA) is a neutral college body
established in 2010 by old rugger rides of the college. Main objective
of the association, headed by its present president Nazeem Ghaffoor, is
to bring college's rugby glory back.
As a result, ZOBRA initiated a project as ‘ZOBRA Rugby Nursary’ in
2010. This project was a huge success. ZOBRA were able to pick some
talented players and now they represent college Under 12 rugby team.
Twelve teams will be divided into four groups in first round and
based on the results of the first round, the teams will be drawn in to
three categories as Cup, Plate and Bowl championship.
The champions will walk away with the trophy and fabulous medals and
other gifts. The Project chairman for this is Irfan Lye.
The main sponsors to make this event a reality are Q.P. Employment,
M. Z. M. Anver and Sons, Unixsigns, and KiK cola will be the official
beverage partner for the event.
Participating schools are, Ananda College, C.W.W. Cannangara, Wesley
College, S. Thomas’ Prep, Mahanama College, Carey College, D.S.
Senanayake College, Nalanda College, Hindu College, Prince of Wales and
Zahira College Colombo. |
