Lankan Sevens team go down fighting
Hopes for 2013 Rugby Sevens WC dashed:
The Sri Lankan Sevens team went down fighting to
formidable South Korea by 12 points (1 goal, 1 try) to 19 (2 goals,
1 try) in the quarter finals of the Cup Championship of the HSBC
Asian Rugby Sevens series final leg at the Singapore Cricket Club
grounds yesterday after trailing at the breather. The Sri Lankans
opened scoring when in the fourth minute Shenal Dias dashed through
50 metres to touch down under the post after receiving a pass from
Nigel Ratwatte. Saliya Kumara converted.

Over 500 competitors for Fun Run
Over five hundred schoolchildren from Kandy
under the age of 16 will participate in the ‘Fun Run’ being part of
a series of events organized by the National Olympic Committee of
Sri Lanka in association with the Department of Education, Army,
Police and other government departments, said the Chief Minister of
the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake.

Former SSC cricketer Nimal Wettimuny won the
Oman Air Trophy at the Annual Omar Air Golf Classics 2012 organized
by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort and sponsored by the
national airline of the Sultanate of Oman the Oman Air and worked
off at the beautiful Victoria golf course at Rajawella off Kandy on
Sunday.
