2012 Junior National Tennis:

U-18 singles finalists found

Shamal Dissanayake trounced Chinthaka Shaveen in straight sets (6/0,6/1) in the boys under 18 first semi-final and booked a berth in the final when the 2012 Junior National Tennis Championship was worked off for the fifth day at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) hard courts yesterday.

Vimuktha De Alwis also qualified to play in the under 18 final beating Aritha Weerasinghe (6/2,6/4) without much trouble in the other semi final.

Aritha tried hard in the second set but failed owing to Vimuktha’s aggressive attack in the end. Both finalists in the U-18 boys singles had less troubles from their semi final opponents and beat them in straight sets. In the girls under 18 semis, Shankari Thayakaran beat Samendri de Silva in straight sets (6/3,6/0) while Kavindya de Silva beat Tasha Fernando (7/5, 4/6, 6/3) after a hard fight and qualified for the final.
