Police Kennel Unit expands


Dogs from the Police Kennel Unit will be used to track explosives and narcotics

The Police Kennel Unit will be expanded to 55. This is following the introduction of six units to the existing 49. The new units will operate in Puttalam, Kilinochchi, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Thambuttegama and Kankesanthurai. Dogs will be used to track explosives and narcotics and also for tracking, Police Media Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said. More dogs will be added to nab drug dealers, he said.

The Police Kennel Unit was established in 1949 in Kandy.
