Lake House Staffer’s mother dies

Irin de Alwis Amarasinha of No 116, Shanthi Road, Hendala, Wattala expired. She is the mother of Regi Amarasinha of Lake House Editorial English Reading Department. Her remains lie at her residence at Hendala, Wattala. Interment will take place at the Roman Catholic Church, Nayakakanda, Hendala today 20 at 3.30 pm. The cortege leaves residence at 3.00 pm.

Morahela Saddhamangala Thera passes away

Ven. Morahela Saddhamangala Maha Thera, 87, Viharadhipathi of Sri Vijayaramaya Udawela, Morahela in Balangoda passed away on June 17.The cremation will take place at the Vijayarama Adahana Maluwa today at 3.00 pm.

Child dies in wasp attack

One of three children of a family stung by Wasps in Neluwa died on admission to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital on Monday.

The deceased child was identified as Nimini Praboda, 4. The other two children, Suneth Madusanka, 7, and Hasini Praboda, 10, are in a serious condition and still being treated.

The three children were attacked by wasps on their way home from Dhamma School last Sunday.

The villagers who noticed the deadly wasp attack, had rescued them and brought them to the Nagoda Hospital from where the victims were transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
