Divi Neguma beneficiaries to reach 4.5 m

The Economic Development Ministry has drawn up plans to increase Divi Neguma beneficiaries to 4.5 million by the forthcoming Maha season, Economic Development Ministry Additional Secretary R R K A Ranawaka said.

There are 2.5 million Divi Neguma recipients countrywide, he said.

Agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and domestic industries are the major sectors under the Divi Neguma programme.

Ranawaka said the authorities have paid attention towards expanding milk production and to make this a success, the Economic Development Ministry is planning to establish 10,000 dairy farms countrywide.
