Donation for deceased welder’s family
The family of S D Ruwan Kumara, a welder at the State Engineering
Corporation’s mechanical workshop who died in a road accident on March
16, received a donation of a three wheeler and Rs 100,000 at a ceremony
presided by Construction Engineering Services Housing and Common
Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa at a ceremony at the ministry
recently.
A communique issued by the Construction Engineering Services, Housing
and Common Amenities Ministry said Ruwan Kumara, a resident of Maha
Induruwa, Warakamulla, Bentota was a father of two aged 7 and 4. His
28-year-old wife, Pathirage Nadika Sandhyani, is in poor health and
unable to work.
Apart from his wife and two children, Ruwan Kumara had been looking
after his aged parents and sister who was unemployed. His untimely death
had rendered his family destitute. Apart from the cash reward of Rs
100,000 given for the repair of their house, the State Engineering
Corporation has arranged to provide Rs 100,000 compensation as insurance
cover to the family.
Nadeeka Sandhyani expressed her gratitude to Minister Wimal
Weerawansa and all others who came to the assistance of her destitute
family in time of need after receiving the gift.
