Dehong prefecture, in China is one of the perfect places for
investments and trade creation and China’s most frontier access opening
to the South Asian and Southeast Asian countries. Dehong has a unique
advantage in geographical location and is located on the route of the
China-India oil pipeline and this feature has made Dehong a perfect
place for promising investors in China to open more business
opportunities with South Asian and South East countries .
Dehong is blessed with abundant natural resources, natural scenery,
rich culture and favourable climate. The 30 autonomous prefectures China
and Dehong is one of them. Dehong is home to a population of one million
twenty one thousand, of which 49.7% being minor ethnic people and 42%
being religious. It is also known as “Kingdom of flora” and “the gene
bank of the flora species as it has abundant florar resources. It is
considered to be a perfect place for developing low-carbon economy.
Dehong authorities are making great efforts to transform Dehong as a
prosperous, open, and harmonious land, and the Yunnan government has
already invested billions of rupees for infrastructure development
projects, thereby creating a well off society.
Development of agriculture, education and transportation, is on the
way to exploit the biological industry, tourism, hydraulic power,
refinery, trading and will carry out the Five Strategies such as
depending on the ecological industry, emphasizing science and education,
promoting industries, opening policies and society stability.
At present, Dehong prefecture, is guided by the scientific outlook on
development. The China-Asian Free Trade Area, the development of the
western regions, and the strategies to build Yunnan, the gateway opening
to the Southeast and South Asia, the construction of the Ruili
development and opening experimental zone, all these events serve as
opportunities of development.

Dehong prefecture has opened doors for promising entrepreneurs,
including Sri Lanka and home, to pour their investments to Dehong and
authorities are in the process of creating a healthy and open business
environment, for the benefit of preferred investors. During the ancient
times, Dehong and Myanmar shares had close ties in the fields of
economic, cultural, social and other important areas due to close
proximity to each others.
In recent times, Dehong managed to record a significant achievement
in economy, culture, ethnic unity and ecology with the backing of
provincial and central government and the hardwork of the local people.
The infrastructure in Dehong is developing fast. With the completion of
the highway, the railway, and the international airport, Dehong will
become the most active region in Yunnan and an important transport hub,
connecting the Indian Ocean.
Dehong is in the process of promoting Yuan 5-10 billion on projects,
including the biological industry, the hydraulic power, refinery
industry, tourism, foreign trade, Jewellery and jade industry.
Dehong Prefecture has been in the leading position in the opening of
China economy. In 1992, two A Grade ports were established under the
approval of the central government. In 2010, the central government of
China identified Ruile as the State Development and Opening Experimental
Zone. To date, Dehong has two A Level Ports in Ruili and Wanding, two B
Level Ports in Yingjiang and Zhangfeng, and two border economic
co-operation zones in Ruili and Wanding.
In 2011, Dehong regional Gross Domestic Product recorded a profit of
Yuan 17.2 billion, an increase of 15.5% as against the year 2010, which
ranks the front in Yunnan province. The total fiscal revenue increased
by 42.2%. to 3.09 billion Yuan and local general fiscal revenue reached
1.89 billion Yuan, which is an increase of 42.8%.
During the year 2011, Dehong Prefecture invested 17.11 billion Yuan
investment in fixed assets, which is a 30.3% increase while the average
disposable income of the citizens increased by 10.5% to 15,230 Yuan as
against the previous year. The average net income of the rural people
reached 4090 Yuan, increased by 21.4%. The total volume of the imports
and exports increased by 18.6% to 1.35 billion Yuan while total income
of the tourism reached 5.6 billion Yuan, which is a 21.2% increase. From
January to April in 2012, Dehong has gained GDP income of 3.94 billion
Yuan, an increase of 10.2%.The investment in fixed assets has reached
4.49 billion Yuan, an increase of 14.5%.
