Police sergeant killed in motorcycle accident

A police sergeant attached to the Kurunegala Police Station, was killed in a motorcycle accident at Pellandeniya on the Kurunegala-Puttalam Road.

The deceased was identified as Police Sergeant Pushpakumara (26172), of the Special Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Kurunegala Police.

His wife who was the pillion rider was seriously injured and admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

According to the Police, the accident occurred when two motor bicycles collided.

The rider of the other motorbike was also severely injured and is under treatment at the Incentive Care Unit of the Teaching Hospital.

Inspector H M Jayathilake, OIC of the Traffic section of the Kurunegala police is conducting investigations.
