Big slice for N-E development

The government has allocated Rs 46,211 million for infrastructure
development in Vavuniya, Mannar and Mullaitivu districts, District
Secretaries of the three districts said during a progress review meeting
of the three districts.
Rs 14,479 million has been allocated for Vavuniya district, Rs 11,584
million for Mannar district and Rs 20,148 million for Mullaitivu
district under this programme.
The allocation will be utilised for infrastructure development in the
three districts, including road development, electrification projects,
agrarian services, improving health facilities, communication
infrastructure activities etc.
The projects will be completed by the end of this year.
Funds have been allocated for housing programmes, irrigation, fishing
activities, education, health, co-operative, transport, postal and other
activities. The three district secretaries, Bandula Harischandra, M
Vedanayagum and Sarath Raweendra said people in the three districts
benefit immensely from these projects. |
