Serbia, Czech Republic set up Fed Cup final
Former world number ones Ana Ivanovic and Jelena
Jankovic took Serbia into a first Fed Cup final on Sunday where they
will face defending champions Czech Republic in November's title
match. Jankovic sealed the crucial point in Moscow as Serbia took an
unassailable 3-1 lead over four-time champions Russia, beating
two-time Grand Slam title-winner Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-1, 6-4.

Fr Herbert memorial basketball tournament from April 27
The Fr Herbert memorial basketball tournament
will be held in Batticaloa on April 27, 28 and 29. The parent body
in Batticaloa and St Michael's College, Batticaloa, Colombo branch
together will be conducting the tournament. Eight teams will be
participating in this three-day tournament, where high standard of
basketball is expected.

Ponting shrugs off pressure to quit
Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting said
Sunday he has no intention of calling time on his Test career and
was looking forward to taking on bitter rivals South Africa later
this year. The 37-year-old, who has already quit one-day
