UN envoy says Afghan attacks could hit troop support
UNITED NATIONS: The UN envoy to Afghanistan warned Tuesday that
attacks on international troops after the killing of 16 civilians and
the burning of Muslim holy books risked undermining support for their
presence in the conflict-stricken country.
The envoy, Jan Kubis, said the killing of international troops in
Afghanistan to train local security forces was "unacceptable".
"These malicious acts have potentially profound implications for
these essential efforts, for public support for enduring commitment of
the international community to assist Afghanistan and its people," Kubis
told the UN Security Council. AFP
