Pakistan’s cricket captain Misbah-ul Haq gestures as he holds the trophy after victory in the third and final Test match between Pakistan and England at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at Dubai Sports City yesterday. Pakistan beat England by 71 runs in the third and final Test to sweep the series 3-0 on the fourth day at Dubai Stadium. England were dismissed for 252 in their second innings as they slumped to a first-ever series whitewash against their opponents.For Pakistan it was a fifth series whitewash, their last coming in a 3-0 triumph over Bangladesh in 2003. The Sri Lankan cricketers who are determined to give a good account of themselves in the ongoing Commonwealth Bank Tri series which also features Australia and India arrived in Perth from Canberra exuding confidence. The team was quick to get to the nets and get a feel of the weather, which is a bit cooler here, considering that Perth is known to be a bit hotter this time of the year.

Pakistan whitewash England in Test series


Pakistan’s bowlers sealed an emphatic 71-run win in the third and final Test against England here on Monday, wrapping up a humiliating 3-0 series whitewash in the process. Set a daunting 324-run target, England were bowled out for 252 with paceman Umar Gul taking 4-61 and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal 4-67 to help Pakistan achieve a first-ever Test cleansweep against their opponents.

England Lions win five-match series


England Lions won the ODI series 3-2 when they defeated Sri Lanka ‘A’ by 117 runs in the fifth unofficial one day match concluded at R Premadasa Stadium yesterday. When the teams took the field yesterday morning, the series hung in the balance with both teams winning two matches each. England Lions batting first scored 330 for 6 in their 50 overs and in reply Sri Lankan ‘A’ were all out for 213 in 42.2 overs.
