Watchful eye in leasing land

Arrangements are in place to review administrative activities regarding the leasing of state land to foreign investors for special investment projects, said Land and Land Development Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.

A special intellectual committee has been appointed, according to a Cabinet decision, to review all leasing activities. This committee will help to continue these programmes in a transparent manner. The special committee will make a suitable method to lease state lands for local and foreign investors, he added.

The minister said that there are no restrictions in the Land Alienation Act regarding alienation of state land to Sri Lankan investors.

Any company has the opportunity to register their companies under the Companies Act while appointing a Sri Lankan to their director board.
