Teacher training for primary schools

Training class in progress at APS

The Academy of Professional Studies (APS) that conduces Teacher Training Programme for many years is currently training the 24th batch of Primary Teacher Training Programme and is expected to complete this batch shortly. This is a nine months programme, consisting of six months class room teaching of theory and three months of supervised practical training in teaching in approved schools.

The next batch of trainee teachers is scheduled to begin in October 2011. The Teacher Training Diploma is accredited by EDEXCEL and Pearson Education Teacher Training Service in London. The faculty consists of highly qualified teacher trainers with international exposure of many years.

The other teacher training programmes that APS conducts with the same accreditation are: Diploma in teaching English Language and Literature, Diploma in Primary School teaching in the English medium in selected subjects (Maths and General Science) based in national and international school syllabuses, and the Diploma in Pre-School Teaching.

All programmes are conducted during weekends at the APS, Highlevel Road Nugegoda.
