Saunders beat rivals Ratnams 3 - 0

Saunders kept their fans on tiptoe with their attacking and entertaining style of Football which sent experienced Ratnams defenders into disarray and conceding three goals before lemons.

Saunders strikers combined well in the first half and Ratnam’s former national goalkeeper Thillakaratne had to sweat much saving many goals. C L Samarasekara put Saunders infront in the first half to score the first goal in the 11th minute and G G A Dulshan added another one in the 36th minute. It was M S S Perera who made it 3-0 after just four minutes. Ratnams played a much defensive game in the second half to contain Saunders. The match also became very tough for the referee Basnayeka where he had to show 5 yellow cards [3 Saunders and 2 Ratnams] and each team were shown a red card each and reduced to 10 players. However Saunders won by 3-0 at the full time.

Army beat Blue Stars 3 - 1 at CR and FC

Army recovered well to beat Blue Stars after being 1-0 down at the early stage, Mohamed Farzen the star goal scorer from Kalutara beat the Army goal keeper in the 28th minute to take the lead till half time. In the second half, Army strikers combined well to over run Blue Star defense many times to score 3 gaols to win the match with 3-1. M.N.M. Fazal in the 60th minute, R.D.S. Gunasinghe in the 70th minute and M.N.M. Isadeen in the 74th minute netted for the Army.

Don Bosco was leading 1-0 till the 62nd minute until P.K.Fernando equaled for Air Force to make it 1-1. W.I.P. Silva of Don Bosco netted the first goal in the match until Fernando found the equalizer. Five yellow cards were shown in the encounter, three for Don Bosco and two for Air force in the match played at Don Bosco Ground, Negambo.

Java Lane escapes defeat at Wennapuwa

Java Lane managed to escape defeat at the 90th minute after scoring a goal against their opponets by opponents New Youngs who took the lead in the 29th minute with Q.T.Akalraj’s goal on Saturday at the Josep Vaz College ground. Nagur Meena came with the equalizer for Java Lane.
