Parents carry their children out of a care centre for migrant workers’ children after eight children were injured when a staff member went on a stabbing spree, in Shanghai on Sunday. The incident was the latest in a series of violent attacks against children that have forced the authorities to increase security and brought calls for further investigation into the root causes of such acts in China’s schools. Court stays hanging of plotters

A court in southern India has stayed the execution of three men in connection with the 1991 assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The men known as Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan were to be hanged at a jail in the State of Tamil Nadu on September 9.

Bookstore made famous in romantic comedy shutting down

Location where Hugh Grant met and fell in love with Julia Roberts:

This could be the final chapter for a book store made famous in a movie. The store is in financial trouble and will be forced to close if a new owner isn’t found. It was the scene of a courtship that captured the hearts of millions around the world. Notting Hill was the backdrop for the 1999 romantic comedy where befuddled bookstore owner Hugh Grant meets and falls in love with a glamorous film star played by Julia Roberts.
