'Navy Asanga' drowns

Notorious underworld leader 'Navy Asanga' drowned in the Kelani river yesterday while attempting to escape the Police. The suspect was in Police custody and was being taken by the Police to show the location where a T56 weapon was hidden in a bush in the Nawagamuwa Wewala area. While showing the location to the Police, 'Navy Asanga' tried to escape by trying to swim across the Kelani River, but, drowned in the process.

Two Police personnel who were in charge of the suspect had also jumped into the water and struggled to save 'Navy Asanga's life. The Police personnel are receiving treatment at Nawagamuwa Hospital.
