Youth shot dead at B’day party

A youth was shot dead following an argument at a birthday party in the Dedduwa area in the Bentota Police zone. The victim Manoj Priyankara (27), was a resident of Horana, Poruwedanda area.

Two groups had come from Horana in two vans, for the birthday party of a child at Bentota in the Dedduwa area.

While the party was on, the two groups had an argument, which developed into fisticuffs.

One of the youths who was shot in the melee died on the spot.

The group responsible for the death of the youth fled from the scene immediately in a car and Bentota Police deployed a special team to arrest them.

Then Horana Police had found the car used by suspects at a businessman’s house in Dambara in the Meewanapalana area. According to police investigations, the suspects not mentioned the incident to the businessman.

The suspects from Ingiriya, Mawak Oya area are reportedly absconding. Crime OIC, W.A.D.A.S. Ranaweera with a police team is conducting investigations under the instructions of OIC, Bentota, Duminda Rajapaksha.
