SLFP for independent economic policy - Minister
Disna Mudalige
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) from its inception has upheld the
policy that the country should follow an independent economic policy,
said SLFP Deputy Secretary and Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana
Yapa.
He was addressing a seminar organized by the Sri Lanka Independent
Professionals Organization at the Mahaweli Centre yesterday to celebrate
the 60th anniversary of the SLFP.
The Minister said that the party has been working to build and
protect the identity of the country. He said that the party has been
following an intermediate path to capitalism and communism with more
inclination towards leftist ideologies.
He observed that this middle path has made it easy for other
political parties which are following various ideologies, to join the
SLFP. The minister said that the SLFP throughout its 60 year history has
upheld national values in its political journey making the party more
popular among the public.
He said party has acted against the privatization of national assets.
