Consecration of new Bishop of Galle today

Galle Catholics will rejoice today with the consecration of the
Bishop elect Mgr. Raymond Kingsley Wickremesinghe as the 7th Bishop of
Galle on his 50th birthday (August 31) by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal
Ranjith.
Religious and secular dignitaries, other invitees and most of all,
the Catholics of the Diocese of Galle who waited two years to welcome
their shepherd, will be present along with Mrs. Margaret Theresa
Tilekaratne nee Wickremesinghe(84), his mother, and family members.
The Bishop elect will be received at the Keells Super Complex Galle,
at 8.30 am and will be conducted to St Mary’s Cathedral for the
consecration and Holy Mass at 10.00 am. |
