STF to commemorate dead heroes

The Police Special Task Force is to hold its 27th War Heroes
commemoration ceremony today and it will continue until September 3,
under the auspices of STF Commandant DIG R.M.W.C. Ranawana.
Plans are afoot to hold an overnight Pirith chanting ceremony at the
Katukurunda Training School today, while a Sangika Dhana will be offered
to 50 Bikkhus tomorrow.
Several programmes have been planned in Weherahena, Matara, Jaya Sri
Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura and at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy as
well. Simultaneously, at the 27th War Heroes commemoration celebrations,
a special exposition of the sacred Tooth Relic will be held at the Sri
Dalada Maligawa on September 3 for the benefit of families of STF
personnel who had scarificed their lives for the defence of their
country. The STF also plans to award scholarships to children of STF
families who had been affected by the war.
Currently, they have donated nearly 1,000 scholarships, while money
will be deposited in accounts of the children of War Heroes. |
