Eid-ul-Fitr day is an opportunity to perform duties and
responsibilities to promote friendship and goodwill, Prime Minister D M
Jayaratne said in a Ramazan message.
The message: “It is with great pleasure that I issue this message to
mark the day of equality of adherents of Islam throughout the day or
Eid-ul-Fitr. “Prophet Mohamed has decreed that there should not be a
single person suffering from hunger in society on Ramazan Festival Day
which dawns after the month of fasting and working at the new moon.
The fasting means a customary religious observance in keeping with
Allah’s decree.
”We should remember that the festival day which dawns after fasting
which paves the way for a righteous and prosperous living is also an
opportunity to perform duties and responsibilities and promote
friendship and goodwill.
May Eid-ul-Fitr festival aimed to commemorate the month of the birth
of Quran and guiding for peaceful living and co-existence be a festival
which enables the entire Muslim community the world over including Sri
Lanka realize their good intentions and objectives.” |
