The construction of the re-located Lotus Tower will commence in
November and the Cabinet approval for the project will be received
shortly. The tower will be built at D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha with an
investment of around Rs 108 million, Telecommunication Regulatory
Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) Director General Anusha Palpita told
Daily News Business.
The construction is expected to be completed within 30 months and
this Colombo TV project is expected to add colour to the Colombo
landscape, he said.
This location will have better ambience than the originally planned
site at Peliyagoda and the state-of-the art 350 meter tower will consist
of nine floors housing a recreation area including a revolving
restaurant, a 1,000 pax banquet hall, leisure centres and an observation
deck. There will be 25 star hotel rooms with four suites.
The basement will have a conference hall, a museum, shops and
restaurants. The ground floor will provide entertainment facilities
including water sports. A proposal for a mini theme park is also in the
pipeline. |
