Stroke play gives way to match play

The qualifying first two rounds of the annual Royal Colombo Golf Club
(RCGC) Amateur Championship, was played on the stroke play format last
Saturday and Sunday at the RCGC.
There were 140 participants in the qualifying rounds playing in the
four divisions, as determined by their respective handicaps, viz, the
RCGC club championship, silver, bronze and the masters.
Out of the 140 contestants only 27 have been found eligible to play
on the match play format with the semifinal on Saturday and the final on
Sunday. The winner of the RCGC club championship, will be the RCGC
champion for the year 2011.
